Job Description

We have a great 20-hour per week position for a skilled medical biller and coder. Must have at least 1-year of medical billing and coding work experience. Must have coding certificate. Prefer surgical coding knowledge as well. Temp to hire. Potential for growth with a great organization with a great culture!

Medical Billing and Coding Specialist General Summary of Duties:

  • Responsible to provide coding services for in-patient office visits, consults and surgery coding in the neurosurgery specialty field. This includes a review of documentation, applying the correct ICD-10 codes and preparing the claim for claim submission.
  • Services billing client to key demographics, review and submit charges, process and follow-up on health insurance claims. This includes claims entry and tracking from submission through patient payment.
  • Responsible to enter insurance, follow-up and work non-paid claims, work aging reports, process credit balances and respond to patient billing questions.

Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Responsibilities:

-Reviews office visit documentation to apply correct E/M and ICD-10 codes and submit claims.
-Reviews in-patient hospital consult the documentation to apply correct E/M and ICD-10 codes and submit claims.
-Review surgery documentation to apply correct ICD-10 and CPT codes and submit claims.
-Receives and reviews charge tickets or electronic charges to ensure they are data entry ready.
-Enters payment information and makes necessary (contractual) adjustments based upon pre-established guidelines and/or policy and procedure
-Logs and posts charges and payment batches daily. Balances A/R daily per established protocol.
-Works on the aging of accounts receivable at 30+ days to ensure all dollars are collected.
-Processes miscellaneous billing information/mail/0 pays in a payment batch.
-Provide stellar customer service to clients and patients.
-Ensure clinic phones are answered in a timely manner.
-Follow established operational policies and procedures as outlined in the Operation (Compliance) Manual and Employee Handbook and under HIPAA rules and regulations.
